About Me

When I was in Kindergarten I learned that school can be a fun, safe place. I was given opportunities to count with Unifix cubes, read interesting books, and make new friends. My teacher helped me to feel important and smart. I worked with many other teachers, and in fifth grade I met Mrs. Brown, who changed my life. She helped me understand long division and introduced me to a computer. More importantly, she gave me opportunities to succeed and helped me realize my worth. That was when I decided I wanted to be a teacher.

I am an Air Force brat and the fourth of 13 children. I was born in Alaska and lived in Utah, Guam, Colorado, Alabama, Texas, Ohio, England, Virginia, and Illinois.

After high school, I returned to Utah to attend Brigham Young University. I met my husband on a blind date, and we have been happily married for 19 years. He works at Hill Air Force Base and has deployed several times with his Air Force Reserve unit. We have three daughters, aged 16, 14, and 12, and a seven year old son.

I love yard work, cooking, and reading (especially children's authors). This year I also learned to love home-improvement projects, as my husband and I remodeled our house ourselves.

I completed my B.S. degree in Elementary Education in 1997 and have tutored students in public schools for many years.
I began teaching full-time in 2012 and currently teach fourth grade at South Clearfield Elementary. I have always loved to learn, so I've continuously studied educational and developmental philosophies. I took the Praxis Level 1 exams in 2013 and scored an average of 181, and I'm preparing to take the Level 2 soon.

My goal is to continue developing my teaching skills and to seek new challenges and opportunities for helping children to succeed in school.
